Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer/Design Lead (DE/DL) – Closures to join our team in Pune. This role will focus on the design and development of closure systems for automotive applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and a proven ability to solve complex design challenges. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities of this role will include, but are not limited to: Performing concept design and feasibility studies for closure systems. Developing and designing closure components such as hoods , fenders , liftgates , tailgates , and side doors . Creating detailed designs and specifications for hardware and sealing systems . Working with door modules and manual tops . Managing and executing mechanism product design . Overseeing modules development and ensuring CFT convergence . Addressing closure product problem solving . Ensuring compliance with homologation and regulation compliance requirements. Required Skills & Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications: Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve design and manufacturing challenges. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Closure Components: A thorough understanding of closure system components and their functionality. Concept Design: Proficiency in generating and evaluating conceptual designs for closure systems. Feasibility Studies: Experience conducting feasibility studies to assess the viability of different design options. Hoods, Fenders, Liftgates, Tailgates, Side Doors: Detailed knowledge of the design and manufacturing processes for these closure components. Hardware & Sealing Systems: Experience with the selection and integration of appropriate hardware and sealing systems. Door Modules & Manual Tops: Familiarity with the design and integration of door modules and manual top systems. Sheet Metal: Strong understanding of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes, including sheet metal press and stamping . Hemming, Sealing, Modules Development: Experience with these processes related to closure systems. UG NX & CATIA: Proficiency in using UG NX and CATIA for 3D modeling and design. Team Centre & PLM: Experience with Team Centre and PLM systems for product data management. OEM Experience: Prior experience working with OEM s in the automotive industry. Regulation Compliance: Knowledge of automotive industry regulations and standards. Education: B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech in Mechanical / Automotive / Electrical engineering. This role will be responsible for the design and development of closure systems for automotive applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, proficiency in CAD design software, and a proven ability to solve complex technical challenges. This is an onsite position. Key Responsibilities The SSTL-Closure Design engineer will be responsible for the following: Developing concept designs for closure components, including hoods , fenders , liftgates , tailgates , side doors , and manual tops . Performing feasibility studies to evaluate the technical and economic viability of proposed designs. Creating detailed CAD models and drawings using UG NX and CATIA . Conducting technical reviews to ensure design quality and adherence to specifications. Supporting vehicle integration activities to ensure proper fit and function of closure systems. Addressing closure product problem solving . Ensuring compliance with homologation and regulation compliance requirements. Working with press , stamping , and Hemming processes. Managing CFT Convergence . OEM Experience: Experience working with OEM s. Team Oriented: Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative. B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech – Mechanical / Automotive / Electrical engineering Experience Required: 8 - 12 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on closure systems design. This level of experience indicates a senior-level role requiring a high degree of technical expertise and the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
