Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Core Team Engineer – CLOSURE to join our team in CHENNAI. This role is critical to ensuring the quality and manufacturability of our automotive components. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, a proven problem-solving approach, and a deep understanding of automotive engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for a range of tasks related to the design, development, and validation of closure systems. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, applying engineering principles to resolve design and manufacturing challenges, conducting thorough analyses to optimize component performance, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of components into the final product.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech – Mechanical / Automotive engineering. This demonstrates a strong foundation in mechanical and automotive engineering principles.
- Experience: 15 - 20 years of experience in a related engineering role within the automotive industry. This level of experience indicates a seasoned professional capable of independent work and leadership.
- Analytical Skill: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex engineering problems and develop effective solutions. This includes the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and draw logical conclusions.
- Problem-Solving Approach: A systematic and methodical approach to problem-solving, with a focus on root cause analysis and sustainable solutions.
- Design for Manufacturing: Expertise in applying design for manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure components are designed for efficient and cost-effective production.
- CAD Proficiency: Strong proficiency in CAD software, including UG-Nx and CATIA, for creating and modifying 3D models and engineering drawings.
- DFMEA & DVPR: Experience with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DVPR (Design Verification and Production Readiness) processes to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- DMU Analysis: Ability to perform DMU Analysis (Digital Mock-Up Analysis) to evaluate component fit, assembly, and functionality.
- Functional Science Knowledge: A solid understanding of functional science principles and their application to automotive closure systems.
- Die Process & Die Tryouts: Knowledge of Die processes and experience with Die tryouts to ensure proper tooling and manufacturing techniques.
- Weight Optimization: Ability to apply techniques for Weight optimization to reduce component weight without compromising performance or structural integrity.
- Cost Optimization: Experience in identifying and implementing Cost optimization strategies to reduce manufacturing costs.
- Spot Welding Requirements & Sheet Metal Design Aspects: A thorough understanding of Spot Welding requirements and Sheet Metal design aspects.
- Formability: Knowledge of Formability principles and their application to sheet metal design.
- Mechanism & Sealing CDL Analysis: Understanding of Mechanism design and Sealing CDL analysis.
- Kinematic Simulation: Ability to perform Kinematic Simulation to analyze the motion and behavior of mechanical systems.
- GD&T: Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure accurate and consistent component manufacturing.
- Sheet Materials & Sheet Metal Welding Process: Knowledge of Sheet Materials and the Sheet Metal Welding Process.
- Benchmarking & Tear Down Activities: Experience with Benchmarking and Tear Down activities to analyze competitor products and identify best practices.
- Regulatory Requirements: Familiarity with relevant Regulatory Requirements for automotive components.
- Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
- Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.
- Presentation Skills: Ability to deliver clear and concise Presentation Skills to communicate technical findings and recommendations.
