Design & development engineer – Interior Restraints

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design & Development Engineer – Interior Restraints to join our team. This role will be responsible for the design and development of interior restraint systems within the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of product design, development, and manufacturing processes, with a focus on safety-critical components.

Key Responsibilities

This role will involve a range of responsibilities related to the design and development lifecycle of interior restraint systems. The engineer will be expected to contribute to all phases, from initial concept through to production release and ongoing support.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A Bachelor of Engineering (B.E./B. Tech) or Master of Engineering (M.E/ M. Tech) degree in Mechanical, Automobile, Production, or Industrial Engineering is required.
• Product Design: Demonstrated ability in product design, encompassing the creation of detailed designs and specifications for automotive components.
• Development: Experience in the full product development lifecycle, from concept generation to validation and verification.
• Seat Belts & Airbags: A strong understanding of seat belt and airbag systems, including their functionality, design considerations, and safety requirements.

• Steering Wheel: Knowledge of steering wheel design and integration within the vehicle architecture.
• Component Design: Proficiency in component design, ensuring components meet performance, durability, and manufacturability requirements.
• System Design: Ability to design and integrate complex systems, considering interactions between various components.
• Software Proficiency: Expertise in utilizing UG, CATIA, and Ennovia for 3D modeling, design, and simulation. Familiarity with Nx is also beneficial.
• Manufacturing & Assembly: A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly feasibility studies, ensuring designs are practical for production.
• Design Release: Experience with design release processes, including the creation of necessary documentation and approvals.
• Change Management: Ability to manage design changes effectively, ensuring proper documentation and impact assessment.
• PLM: Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems for managing design data and workflows.
• Project Management: Ability to manage projects effectively, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership potential, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
• Presentation Skills: Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Software Proficiency: Proficiency in MS-Office and Google G-Suite for documentation and communication.

Experience: 6 - 9 years of relevant experience in the automotive industry is required. This level of experience indicates a seasoned professional capable of independently managing design projects and providing technical leadership.
