Vehicle Performance Test Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Vehicle Performance Test Engineer to join our team. This role will be responsible for conducting comprehensive performance testing on vehicles, analyzing data, and contributing to the improvement of vehicle performance and quality. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a solid understanding of vehicle testing methodologies, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. This position is onsite.

Key Responsibilities

The Vehicle Performance Test Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Conducting a variety of vehicle performance tests, including Full Performance, Part Performance, On-Road Fuel Economy, Gradeability, and Max Speed testing.
• Performing Vehicle Testing and DVP Testing to ensure vehicles meet performance targets and quality standards.
• Analyzing test data using Excel, Power BI, and other data analysis tools to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Performing Vehicle Coast Down testing and Emission Testing.
• Conducting Subjective Assessments of Vehicle Drivability and Vehicle Performance.
• Evaluating Gear Shift Quality for both Manual Transmission and Automatic Transmission systems.
• Performing Benchmark Vehicle Testing to compare vehicle performance against competitors.
• Performing Root Cause Analysis on performance issues and developing solutions.
• Participating in Technical Discussions with engineering teams to share findings and contribute to problem-solving.
• Utilizing data logging equipment such as V Box, Ipetronic, and L350 Aqua Sensor.
• Analyzing vehicle data using tools such as CAN Analyser, DFL, INCA, and ETAS.

Required Skills & Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess the following:

• A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
• 6 - 8 years of experience in vehicle performance testing or a related field. This level of experience indicates a seasoned professional capable of independently designing and executing complex test plans, analyzing data with a high degree of accuracy, and contributing to the development of robust solutions.
• Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets, identify trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Proven ability to identify and resolve performance issues through systematic investigation and analysis.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with engineers and other stakeholders to achieve common goals.
• Data Analysis: Proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools, including Excel, Power BI, and MDA.
• Proficiency in creating presentations using Google Slides and PowerPoint.
• Experience with creating and manipulating data using Google Sheets.
• Familiarity with vehicle testing methodologies, including Vehicle Testing and DVP Testing.
• Experience with Vehicle Coast Down, Full Performance, Part Performance, On-Road Fuel Economy, Gradeability, and Max Speed testing.
• Experience with Emission Testing, TA, and COP.
